Thankful & Blessed on Sanibel and Captiva

“Where were you one year ago?” asked my dear neighbor, Tracy. It seems like such a simple question, but it stopped me in my tracks. Instead of my dwelling on everything that needs to be done, Tracy helped me refocus my thoughts to realize how much has been accomplished on our beautiful islands of Sanibel and Captiva this past year. “Still Paradise” indeed!

And the universe continued to send me positive messages this week, particularly when I discovered this lovely painted shell outside the offices of the Sanibel and Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce, 1159 Causeway Blvd. My sincere thanks to “BGS” of FB Sanibel Shells who created this masterpiece! “Thankful and Blessed”. That is exactly how I feel this week!

Many of us at VIP Realty feel that way. October’s Top Producing Agent, Debbie Ringdahl is looking forward to enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday with her family and friends. Did you know that Debbie has a lovely singing voice and is a member of Westminster Church Music Team . What a wonderful way to start this season of celebrations! Next time you see Debbie, ask her what her favorite spiritual song is. What’s yours? I am rather fond of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” myself. I’ll spare you my version of it but if you are lucky, Debbie will treat you to a mini-concert of her favorites!

Realtor Karen Bell and the Bell Team are thrilled to be recognized as October’s Top Listing Agents. Karen, too, has been busy preparing for the holidays. Just like Martha Stewart, Karen recommends that prior to roasting, the turkey is slathered with that not-so-secret ingredient, BUTTER! When in doubt, add butter I say! Thanksgiving comes but once a year and that bird needs to be moist! Karen’s culinary tasks are under the strict supervision of her wonderful Cobberdog, Ruby! Ruby is prepared to assist Karen clean any scraps of turkey or sweet potatoes that might drop on the floor! It’s OK to splurge now and then, after all. Karen and Ruby suggest walking the beautiful beaches of Sanibel and Captiva to burn off those extra calories. No worries!

Realtor Deb Smith is also very thankful to be recognized as October’s Top Sales Agent. She has been very busy preparing the Thanksgiving feast for her family as she is hosting this year. Between her many real estate activities and holiday events, Deb still finds time to read and relax a bit. She has just begun Nathaniel Philbrick’s “Mayflower: A Story of Courage, Community and War”. It is the perfect time of year to read this spellbinding account of the 1620 Mayflower voyage and the subsequent 50 years of New England settlements. Deb is reading this in preparation to hear Philbrick’s presentation as part of the Sanibel Public Library Foundation Author Series on Thursday, March 14, 2024. That is, if she is lucky enough to win a ticket in the library’s lottery that will begin at 9 AM on Wednesday, February 14. This presentation will be extremely popular so mark your calendar so you too can enter the lottery to hear the best-selling author, Nathaniel Philbrick. If you are lucky enough to attend and sit next to Deb Smith, ask her why living in Sanibel or Captiva is living in paradise! She has the answers!

May your holiday be filled with family, friends and treats of all kinds. May this be the Thanksgiving you find a Junonia on your beach walk! Happy, Healthy Thanksgiving to All!
