The Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ invites the public to attend its 36th annual Christmas Eve service on the shores of lighthouse beach. Beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, December 24, free parking is available for attendees and participants are asked to bring their own beach blankets and chairs to sit on. While everyone will receive a candle, attendees are asked to bring a flashlight as it will be dark by the time the service has concluded. Please arrive early as attendance can reach as many as 1,000. An offering will be taken during the service to benefit local charities, including FISH (Friends in Service Here) of Sanibel and the Salvation Army.
