This year, in the spirit of good cheer and good health, the Sanibel & Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce has extended Luminary 2020 from seven hours to seven days for the “Coastal Distance Edition” on Dec. 4-11.
Luminary Week will take place Friday to Friday during normal operating hours, when businesses will offer special discounts and deals. With the tagline “Eat. Shop. Stay. Play,” it — like traditional Luminary celebrations — promotes commerce on Sanibel and Captiva. Unlike past Luminaries, however, the chamber and city have put the kibosh this year on luminary light bags, alcohol (except where licensed) and any entertainment, events and activities that might draw a crowd.
