Brief History of Andy Rosse of Captiva

If you have ever visited Captiva, you have likely been on Andy Rosse Lane, the location of popular Captiva restaurants as The Mucky Duck and RC Otters and some of the most beautiful homes on Sanibel. But did you know anything about the man after whom it is named?

Andy Rosse and his wife, Dessa, came to Captiva Island in 1926 and was a fishing guide at ‘Tween Waters for approximately 15 years. In 1940, Rosse purchased Andy’s Fishing Pier, now home to McCarthy’s Marina and Captiva Cruises.
